Corona in the World: The Philippines - Challenges & Opportunities for Intrapartum and Newborn Care
Improving the survival and well-being of mothers and newborns is a global priority. As the world grapples with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, a critical question today is not only about how pregnant or postpartum women and newborns are vulnerable to COVID-19-infection, but also the degree to which the access to and quality of maternal and newborn care is compromised by indirect effects of the virus on healthcare provision.
Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) can help optimize patient care by reducing inappropriate variations in practice with due consideration of the benefits and harms of alternative options.
In this webinar, Dr Romelei Camiling-Alfonso will present how medical professional societies support the Philippine pandemic COVID-19 response through algorithms aiming to harmonize practice across the spectrum of care. She will discuss how such efforts in guideline development incorporates:
1) alignment with national policies, current evidence, and global recommendations
2) operational realities in low-resource settings
3) shared-decision between health professionals and women and their families.

This webinar will take 1 hour.
